After 11 years, we found this space in the heart of Traverse City. The Village, formerly the Northern Michigan Asylum, is one of the most extensive historical restoration projects in America. Peninsula Cellars
 

Six miles north of Traverse City, on the Old Mission Peninsula, sits the charming 19th century one-room schoolhouse tasting room of Peninsula Cellars. Owned and operated by the Kroupa family since 1994, Peninsula Cellars focuses on producing regionally expressive wines, with minimal handling and impact to the environment. The Kroupa family has been working the land for five generations, giving a uniquely long-term perspective to their environmentally verified vineyards and orchards. 

Varieties Include: Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Merlot, several cherry & apple wines and Riesling Ice Wine.

Our modern bi-level facility is built for employing gravity flow techniques and conserving energy during wine production. And our view is…beyond compare. So start your wine tour at the top of Old Mission Peninsula.

In our 22 acre estate vineyard we grow Riesling, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, with a focus on the cool climate red varietals like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. You might call us Crazy for Reds!
